In a futuristic society people are classified by where they live. Those on the upper levels are referred to as 'Uppers' those on the lower levels are known as 'Scrubs'. The two are separated  and only those in authority have any interaction between the two levels of society. Rumors abound of a Gateway to the 'outside' although no one has found any proof of it existing. Trella (aka Queen of the Pipes) is approached by an Upper stating he has proof of Gateway's existence, but needs her help in retrieving it. She has her suspicions that she is being set up by the population police (pop cops). If she is found on the upper levels she will be recycled. When she finds the discs the Upper was looking for, however, things get a lot more interesting and dangerous for her and her friends. Very fun read.

Snyder made the jump from Adult Fiction to Young Adult Fiction with Inside Out.  Loved how I wasn't sure what 'Outside' would entail and the world building Snyder did. The characters were diverse, fun and interesting.  Also, love how I can once again share one of my favorite authors with my daughter.

I gave this one 4 out of 5 stars.

For those of you who enjoy Ms. Snyder's books please note that my online book club (of which I am a moderator of) , Nothing but Reading Challenges - which resides on Goodreads, will be doing a Q&A with her on Saturday, May 14th. Yay! I'll give you more information as we get closer to the date. :)
