It all started with a Prince, a kiss, and a dress.....

Who knew wearing the wrong dress could ruin a person? When Linnet Thrynne set out that evening she liked the dress she wore. By the end of the evening she wished she'd never laid eyes on it. The gown in question made her look to be in the family way. Why did no one mention this fact? Compound that with Prince Augustus' declaration that he regretfully could not marry her because his family would never approve of  the match and you've got a scandal. Did I mention a kiss? Well, that probably played a part as well. By the end of the evening people would not look Linnet in the eye. Now her father and aunt see only one possible solution to the scandal, to find  her a match with someone who would welcome a  beautiful pregnant wife.

Pier decided long ago never to get married. In an attempt to stop his father from pestering him about getting a wife, he sent him a list of impossible criteria that he demanded in a wife. He never expected his father would find someone.

When I was first started reading this book I could not stop myself from comparing Pier to Dr. Gregory House of the TV series House. My suspicions were confirmed when Eloisa mentioned in her Historical Notes that she did, in fact, use the character as the base for her historical character. It does show and I have to say I loved it. I also loved the witty banter which went on between Linnet and Pier. A very fun read. I gave this one a 4 out of 5 stars.
