Rose has been imprisoned for Queen Tatiana's murder. Her trial date has been moved forward. That may sound like a good thing, but when there are no suspects and very little clues it truly isn't. If things progress as quickly as they seem, Rose could be dead in two weeks. In a desperate attempt to buy more time to find the killer(s) and spare her life, Rose's father and friends team up to break her out of her confinement. The elaborate scheme involves putting Rose, Dimitri, and Sydney into hiding. Rose being the type of person that she, can not just sit back and do nothing. She needs in on the action and that's when things get interesting and eventually someone will make the ultimate last sacrifice. 

I really enjoyed this book. We're introduced to another branch of Moroi, the Keepers. They reminded me a little of  the Amish. We also got a look at what it takes to become the Queen or King of the Moroi. Plus, there is a lot of action and a twist at the end that, I must confess, I didn't see coming. For that alone I give this one a 5 out of 5 stars rating. Don't you just love it when each book an author writes in a series just keeps getting better and better? I know I do. So sad that this is the last in series, but thankfully there will be a spin-off series called Bloodlines.

 Rose is still hoping for a fairy tale type fix for Dimitri. Dimitri is sending her death threats. Well, I guess it's sort of sweet he lets her know he's thinking of her. Yes, I'm being sarcastic - lol. While Rose pulls her friends into a scheme that could literally ruin all of their futures she is determined to find out if Strogi can have their souls returned to them and come back to the living. Friendships will be tested, mistakes will be made, and the ending? Well, you are so going to want to get your hands on the next book. Sometimes it pays to get into a series late. I truly am impatient when it comes to wanting to know what happens next.

I gave this one 5 out of 5 stars.

Rose and Dimitri discussed long ago their feelings about turning Strogi (Vampires that kill to survive). They each expressed the opinion that they'd rather die than become one. Now Rose is faced with doing for Dimitri what he would undoubtly do for her - kill him to save him from a Strogi existence. Setting out on an emotionally painful mission to kill the love of her life Rose set out for Russia. There she will find out if she has what it takes to fulfill the promise she made to herself to kill him.

IMHO, this is the best of Mead's Vampire Academy series thus far. With action, drama, and a heart wrenching quest I absolutely loved it. I gave this one 5 out of 5 stars.

Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead

Rose and her fellow students are close to graduation and are their skills are being put to the test. The teachers are staging mock attacks to see how the student's do in a surprise situation. They are given Moroi to protect and when Rose doesn't end up being Lissa's bodyguard, she protests. It's no wonder when she fails to protect her Moroi, Christian, that people suspect she did so on purpose. What they don't realize is that Rose saw Mason. Now she has to figure out if she's losing her mind or this is another side affect of being shadow kissed. Very fun read, but again someone will be lost in this one.

I really enjoyed this one. I think this is one of my favorites thus far. I gave it 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
