August's End of Summer Beach Blast Reading Challenge

I have been creating challenges for my Goodreads group for a year now. I decided it was time I started adding them to my blog. Let me know if you like the new addition. Once I have a few challenges up, I'll create a page for them on my blog so they will be easier to find.

Why do I get the urge to scream, "Da plane! Da Plane!"? lol (Found the above picture on photobucket)

Here in the U.S., August is considered the final month of summer because kids will be going back to school. So this challenge will reflect what a lot of people like to do before the Summer Vacation period is over, and that is go to the beach. You may:

1) Do a Spell it out Challenge. You use the letters in words associated with the beach to choose which books you'll read. As always you may use the title, name of characters, or the name of an author to link it to the letters. You may ignore the 'A', 'An', 'The', etc. at the beginning of titles to get to the first significant word. So "The Virgin's Secret" would be a 'V' title and "A Highlander Christmas" would be an 'H' title."  You may pick which word you want from the list below or come up with one that hasn't been mentioned.

For example, if you pick Sun you might read:
S -Sara Gruen author of Water for Elephants
U - Unbelievable by Sara Shepard
N - Nancy Drew character in The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene

2) Read books that have a beach location in them or on the cover.

3) Read any combination of the above.
