A new alien race had been spotted on Earth. They have been dubbed the Schön, a German word meaning beautiful. "These otherworlder men were, apparently, so lovely to gaze upon, human women were throwing themselves at them. And every woman who did so ended up in the hospital with grade-nine hallucinations, losing touch with reality more and more every day until finally developing a hunger for human flesh they couldn't suppress."

Jaxon was the A.I.R. (Alien Investigation and Removal) agent in charge of interviewing the female victims during the various stages of their illness. Thomas, a Delensean alien, however, desperately wants the information Jaxon's collected and will stop at nothing to get it. Thomas kidnapped Jaxon and is  attempting to torture the information out of him.

When Mishka Le' Ace arrived at his bedside he thought he was done for. Known to him as Marie, she was sent to use her specific brand of torture to loosen his lips. He never expected she was anything but the person she'd been presented as. He also didn't expect to be highly attracted to the woman who could prove to be his executioner...

Meanwhile, Dallas is going through the "change". In 'Awaken Me Darkly', Kyrin, an Arcadian male and Mia's mate, gave Dallas some of his blood. He did it to save his life. He didn't just save it, however, he changed it, and those changes are starting to show. Dallas will have to come to terms with what's happening to him. He'll have to learn to embrace the changes. After all, the alternative (death) would have been much worse.

Let me just say I loved Jaxon. I liked how he was strong in a stressful situation and how he stood up for Mishka. While he does have some skeletons in the closet, I felt he's totally made up for his past errors. Although if you asked him, he'd probably say that would never be possible.

Mishka is such a great character. She's a tortured heroine and is somewhat of a contradiction. She's  strong and smart, yet totally under the power of someone else with what seems to be no viable escape in site. You get drawn in by the horror of her predicament and by the strength she displays by not being utterly destroyed by it. You just can't help sympathizing with her.

The relationship between Mishka and Jaxon starts out bittersweet in that it seems it isn't meant to be. So many hurdles stand in their way that the relationship seemed doomed even before it got a chance to start. I love how the two somehow manage to instantly connect and understand each other. The passion the two experience engulfs them like a tidal wave, but whereas a tidal wave subsides, I somehow doubt their feelings will.

On the Lisarenee Romace Rating Scale, this one gets a  SHOWER rating - make sure the cold water in your shower is in working order or your significant other is handy. Need I say more? lol Overall, I gave this book a 4 1/2 out of 5 roses.
